What is the license policy for SIESTA?
Since may 2016, SIESTA is released under the GPL open-source license.
In the past SIESTA had always been free for academic use, but re-distribution was not permitted.
SIESTA’s developers expected that the move to an open-source license would be beneficial for the SIESTA project and its large user community. Under the current license, the program can incorporate functionality already existing in other GPL codes. In addition, the barrier for contributors has been lowered, as new developments are more easily re-distributed.
